November 5, 2022 - November 20, 2022

The events of the 5th Cyprus Archaeological, Ethnographic and Historical Film Festival, which has been organized since 2018 by the non-profit organization A.E.I. AUDIOVISUAL FORUM, start on Saturday November 5th and screenings will continue on Sunday November 6th, as well as the next three weekends in November. During the first weekend, 18 Cypriot documentaries will be screened, which are part of the National Section. On November 12 and 13 the festival will continue with the International Section, and 19 foreign documentaries will be screened. The festival will end on November 19 and 20 with the Educational Section, with the screening of 23 documentaries by children and young people, of which 14 come from the film workshops of the CINeDUCATION program and claim cash prizes offered by the Cyprus Radio and Television Authority and the National UNESCO Cyprus Commission.

This year the festival is jointly organized with two Departments of the University of Cyprus, the Archaeological Research Unit and the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Excluding the professionals in the field of cinema, within the framework of the Festival, the educational program CINeDUCATION of the Festival caused the participation of more than 600 students of Secondary Education and 70 students of Cypriot universities in the creation of short documentaries on topics from the Ethnography, History and Archeology of Cyprus. As a result, today the film library of the Organization includes more than 50 ten-minute documentaries.

The goal of the Festival and the CINeDUCATION program is to develop and highlight the cultural identity of Cyprus, but also to raise awareness towards other communities and countries through the art of documentary.

During the opening ceremony on November 5, an honorary plaque will be awarded to the renowned Cypriot director and educator George Koumouros, for his overall contribution to the cinematographic art and education of the country.

In addition to the screenings, the Festival is also framed by various parallel actions, such as a photographic exhibition, experiential workshops for children, discussions and presentations on topics from Archaeology, Cinema and the use of digital technology in Education. The Festival will conclude on Sunday, November 20 at 19:00 with the awarding ceremony of the school and student films that will receive the monetary prizes offered by the Cyprus Radio and Television Authority and the National Cyprus Commission for UNESCO.
