The 18th International Cyprus Film Festival will take place with free admission from November 1st to November 4th at the Melina Merkouri Cultural Center. The Golden Aphrodite Awards Ceremony will be held on November 5th at the Pallas Cinematheatre in Old Nicosia, hosted by Mario Sarpetsas and Mario Priamos Ioannidis. The purpose of the event is to promote human rights through the Seventh Art, including film screenings with the presence of directors. The Festival supports Cypriot cinema, diversity, equality, empowerment of vulnerable groups, and women. The Nostimon Imar Award is presented to Greek-Cypriot directors living abroad. The Phedon Papamichael Technical Award for best production and/or cinematography in a participating film honors its first artistic director, Phaedon Papamichael, and his son, Director of Photography, Phaedon Papamichael Jr.
The Cyprus International Film Festival is supported by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism in Cyprus, the Municipality of Nicosia, the National Machinery for Women’s Rights (NMWR), the Cyprus Symphony Youth Orchestra , the Embassies of Serbia, Australia and Greece in Cyprus and OPAP Cyprus.
