Roman Simović, the dazzling virtuoso and concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra, takes center stage with conductor Zoi Tsokanou for a fabulous spectacle of violin mastery.

The evening begins with Tchaikovsky’s Violin concerto in D major, a timeless romantic masterpiece celebrated for its soaring melodies and fiery brilliance. Paired with this is Prokofiev’s Violin concerto no. 2 in G minor, a striking work of poetic depth and rhythmic intrigue, seamlessly weaving lyricism with modern edge.

ROMAN SIMOVIC violin

Roman Simovic’s brilliant virtuosity and seemingly-inborn musicality, fueled by a limitless imagination, has taken him throughout all continents performing on many of world’s leading stages including the Carnegie Hall, Bolshoi Hall of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Mariinsky Hall in St. Petersburg, Grand Opera House in Tel Aviv, Rudolfinum Hall in Prague, Barbican Hall in London, Art Centre in Seoul, to name a few.

Roman Simovic has been awarded prizes at numerous international competitions comprising: “Premio Rodolfo Lipizer” (Italy, first prize winner and winner of 12 Audience prizes), Sion-Valais (Switzerland), Yampolsky Violin Competition (Russia) and the Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition (Poland), placing him among the foremost violinists of his generation.

As a soloist, Roman has appeared with the world leading orchestras: London Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Symphony Orchestra, Teatro Regio Torino, Symphony Nova Scotia (Canada), Camerata Bern (Switzerland), Camerata Salzburg (Austria), Prague Philharmonia, and conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Antonio Pappano, Daniel Harding, Gianandrea Noseda, Kristian Jarvi, Jiri Belohlavek.

A sought-after artist, Roman Simovic performs at various distinguished festivals such as the Verbier Festival, White Nights Festival St. Petersburg, Vadim Repin’s Trans-Siberian Art Festival, Easter Festival Valery Gergiev Moscow, Dubrovnik Summer Festival in Croatia, the BEMUS and NOMUS Festivals in Serbia, “Sion Valais” Switzerland, Norway’s Bergen Festival, “Granada Music Festival” in Spain, collaborating with such renowned artists as Leonidas Kavakos, Yuja Wang, Gautie Capuson, Misha Maisky, Schlomo Mintz, Janine Jansen, Julian Rachlin, Vadim Repin, Evgeny Kissin, Nikolai Lugansky.

Roman holds a visiting professor of violin position at the Royal Academy of Music in London and has an extensive experience as an educator.

Roman Simovic has released comprehensive list of recordings, most notable are four CDs directing the LSO string orchestra for the LSO live label as well as a CD of the complete Paganini Caprices for violin solo. In June 2022, Roman made a recording with Sir Simon Rattle and London Symphony Orchestra of Miklos Rosza’s Violin Concero for the LSO live label.

Roman is serving as a leader of the London Symphony Orchestra since 2010. Roman Simovic plays a 1709 Antonio Stradivari violin which was generously given to him on loan from Jonathan Moulds.

ZOI TSOKANOU conductor

Making a name for herself across multiple engagements in Opera and Concert and showing a vivid temperament on stage, Zoi Tsokanou is the first Woman in history to lead a major Greek Orchestra. During 2017-2023 she served as Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra, leading 120 musicians in a new area of repertoire, international profile, accessibility, educational and community engagement.

Highlights of the concert season 2024/2025 include her return to the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, her Debut with the Hessisches Staatsorchester Wiesbaden, the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra, the Brandenburgische Staatsphilharmonie, Concerts with Athens State Symphony Orchestra, The Lausanne Sinfonietta, the Orquesta Sinfonica da Xalapa in Mexico and a series of appearances and recordings with the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra.

In the previous seasons she made her debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, at the Norwegian National Opera, Grande Theatre de Geneve, in Mexico with Orquesta Sinfonica de Xalapa. Recent engagements include concerts with Karajan Academy of the Berliner Philharmoniker and Artist in Residence Marlis Petersen, Barcelona Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre Nationale de Lille, Düsseldorfer Symphonikern, Sofia Philharmonic, Szczecin Philharmonic, Cyprus Symphony Orchestra, Radio and Television Orchestra Madrid RTVE, as well as all major Greek orchestras.

She has also participated in famous festivals such as Lucerne Festival, Athens Festival, Schumann Festival Düsseldorf, Domstufen Festival and has worked with distinguished artists such as Gil Shaham, Thomas Hampson, Juliana Avdeeva, Daniel Lozakovich, Alena Baeva, Daniel Müller Schott, Valeriy Sokolov, Ramon Vargas, a.o.

During 2014-2017 she served as permanent conductor at the Theater Erfurt, she was Associate Conductor of the Westbohemian Symphony for two years, and during 2011-2014 she was Music Director of Arosa Music Theatre at the Arosa Festival, Switzerland.

She has conducted many opera productions at the Greek National Opera as well as in Opera Theaters in Erfurt, Bremen, Regensburg, Hagen, Athens and Thessaloniki.

One of her remarkable moments is her assistantship with Bernard Haitink, her important mentor, together with Tonhalle orchestra Zurich. She has won several prizes in International Conducting Competitions.
