5th International Literary Festival, to the sea-girt shores of Cyprus
Wednesday – Saturday, 3 – 6 November 2021, Nicosia, Lemithou, Galata
The 5th international Literary Festival, to the sea-girt shores of Cyprus, will be four days long, from Wednesday to Saturday, with both both days included, 3 – 6 November 2020, and will host 30 writers and poets, from 11 countries, including Cyprus.
It is a well-known fact, that renowned as well as emerging literary voices and their interactive participation give significant value to an international literary festival. Their participation brings together their writing – reading with the audience-listener, in an atmosphere of communication (networking meetings that result in the tightening of relations between authors and the public), understanding (translations of poems and texts) and contemporary presentations (performance, videos).
The author-reader and audience-listener create a new platform-dialogue, on which they converge in search of new ideas and new approaches, that help better understand the contemporary literary trends. The Festival provides the platform for contemporary-modern writing- performing to be made public and reach more audiences, while at the same time never forgetting the classical.
Keeping this in mind and together with one of its key objectives, which is the presentation of specialised events dedicated to specific literary themes (countries or writers / poets), Ideogramma, is dedicating, in its fifth edition of the International Literary Festival, to the sea-girt shores of Cyprus, two events: one to the greatest living Irish poet Michael Longley, and the other to the world-famous German writer Bernhard Schlink (whose novel Der Vorleser, was made into the Oscar winning film, The Reader).
Participants:
Michael Longley (Ireland), Elena Penga (Greece), Jean-Pierre Vallotton (Switzerland), Aleš Šteger (Slovenia), Gabriel Itkes Sznap (Sweden), Yang Lian (China), Dr Afra Atiq (UAE), Raquel Lanseros (Spain). Lisa Majaj – Suhair (Palestine / USA)
