In the first programme of its prestigious Starlight series, the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra welcomes on stage the sensational and award-winning violinist Roman Simović, a concertmaster of the London Symphony Orchestra and professor at the Royal Academy of Music, London. We are also delighted to renew our collaboration with the internationally acclaimed conductor Zoi Tsokanou, to conduct a programme featuring two iconic Russian masterpieces. Dmitri Shostakovich’s legendary First Violin concerto demands tremendous physical and emotional stamina from the soloist. Igor Stravinsky’s ballet suiteThe Firebirdis emblematic of early 20^th centuryradical modernism and the first fruit of his historic collaboration with Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes in Paris.
